EXCHANGE CLUB OF NEWPORT HARBOR
Exchange, inspiring communities to become better places to live.
The Exchange Club of Newport Harbor
was officially chartered on January 18, 1957, marking the beginning of its dedicated service to the Newport Harbor community. As a proud member of the National Exchange Club (NEC)—America’s oldest service organization, founded in 1911 in Detroit, Michigan—we are part of a nationwide network of volunteers working to make our communities better places to live.
As the oldest nonprofit service club in Newport Beach, we’ve proudly donated over $1 million to Newport Beach and surrounding communities. Our contributions support youth initiatives, patriotic programs, child abuse prevention efforts, and military servicemember support. Notably, we founded the first Cub Scout Troop in the United States.
Each year, we host a signature event at the Lido Theater, featuring a food fest and movie screening. These gatherings have raised over $1 million and helped launch the largest child abuse prevention center in the nation.
We have awarded more than $63,000 in scholarships annually to students in the Newport Mesa School District, investing in the future of our youth.
Field of Honor
One of our most inspiring traditions is the Field of Honor. For over 15 years, our members have placed 1,776 American flags at Castaways Park during Armed Forces Week to honor our military. This moving tribute draws families from across the county and serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for our freedom.

Areas of Impact
ONE IMMENSE DIFFERENCE
During the mid-1960s, Exchange embraced its national “Areas of Impact”, which heightened attention on the prevailing societal challenges of that era. This framework allowed local clubs to tailor their initiatives to the unique needs of their respective communities.

Visit Orange County’s Five Piers with OC History Hunters, John Moorlach. The piers along Orange County’s 42 miles of coastline were major contributors to its growth. With the need to transport goods by boat to Anaheim Landing and the McFadden Wharf, to the implementation of the Pacific Electric’s Red Line to its southern terminus at the Balboa Pavilion, the coastal communities blossomed to what they are today. From Seal Beach to San Clemente, everyone loves to visit the piers for an outing, for fishing, for watching surfers, for restaurants and to see California’s famous West Coast sunsets. Join us for a day trip along Pacific Coast Highway to see the jewels on the shore.
